John_Glenis001Dengate Joinery was originally part of E.G. Dengate and Sons, a construction company established over 50 years ago in Tamworth, New South Wales. In 1988 the construction company was purchased by the employees with Malcolm Dengate (grandson of E.G. Dengate) purchasing the joinery section and commencing a new business, Malcolm Dengate Joinery.

In 1990 Peter Bell was appointed as Manager and, with Malcolm, witnessed steady growth over the next 5 years. Sadly Malcolm passed away in 1995 and subsequently the Joinery was purchased by John and Glenys Rule.

John, a fully qualified builder and joiner by trade, Glenys, a computer analyst programmer with years of office administration experience running their own building business and Peter Bell who has been an integral part of the joinery for many years have teamed together and are working hard to ensure Dengate Joinery is a leader in its industry.

Since 1998 there have been major changes to building regulations, particularly those affecting windows. To ensure we are abreast of changes and have input into standards development, we are members of WADIC (Window and Door Industry Council). WADIC has fellow members sitting on various decision making committees at Government levels.

The most significant change has been the introduction of Australian Standard AS2047 (Windows in buildings). This standard measures the performance of window and door assemblies which are tested for structural strength, water penetration, air infiltration and operating force. To make sure we comply with these rigorous standards we have had our windows and sliding door assemblies tested by the C.S.I.R.O.

Dengate Joinery currently employs 14 full time staff who are all dedicated to offering the finest quality and service. We are proud of our reputation and strive to improve by introducing new technologies whilst maintaining our tradition of hand making and finishing windows and doors. We have purposely retained full through mortice, tenoned and wedged joints (not bridle joints with nails or pins) and we screw our frames together (not nailed or gang nailed) enabling us to provide you with the best quality product possible that will offer a lifetime of trouble free operation.

For more information on building approval requirements, ratings of our windows and door systems (water penetration, air infiltration, operating force) or where the future lies in Energy ratings, please contact us. We will assist in any way possible.
